Well hello again, music fans! Welcome to Flatbasset Radio – Episode #14!

For those of you who don't know quite what you're looking at, here's the story. Each week TCDroogsma participates in our Songs Of The Week column reviewing the tracks given away via The Current. Since he tends to be overly negative in those reviews we've asked him to put together a weekly podcast for the blog to prove to us that he does actually enjoy music and has valid thoughts about contemporary artists.

Once he does that we pass his hour-long free podcast on to you in the hopes that you'll listen to it and enjoy Droogsy's jams and commentary on said jams.

On this week's episode TCDroogsma compares the new Atoms For Peace album to Thom Yorke's solo work, revisits a pop-punk classic, plays a song he knows nothing about, claims Iggy Pop is “Mick Jagger with peanut butter,” gets a little too excited about his new favorite Minneapolis band, embraces a “fuck you” attitude toward pretty much everything, shines a light on his second-favorite Canadian rapper, and finds solace in the outlook of the British. It was a strange week.

Well hello again, music fans!  TCDroogsma is back with Flatbasset Radio - Episode #5!

For those of you stopping by for the first time, TCDroogsma is one of our regular contributors.  He typically sticks to the twin indulgences of food and music.  Each week we have him put together a podcast of roughly an hour's worth of music broken up sporadically by his nasally banter.

As you can see, Tuesday night is now going to be the new home of the podcast.  We realize that this puts Flatbasset Radio up against Tuesdays With Lazerbeak and Tuesday Morning Quarterback.  We're hoping that you'll soon consider Flatbasset Radio in the same breath as those two internet institutions.  Call it the Tuesday Hat Trick.

Well hello, music fans, and welcome to the inaugural episode of Flatbasset Radio!

For those of you unfamiliar with Flatbasset, it's the work of our regular contributor TCDroogsma.  For years now he's been posting mixes of songs online each month under the name Flatbasset.  Evidently he's decided to change things up a little bit.

Flatbasset Radio - Episode #1

In this episode TCDroogsma claims the British government is hoarding rappers, explains the best Halloween he ever had, recaps the "Get Out The Vote" show at First Avenue, steals an idea from Sound Opinions, and laments Morrissey's ill mother.

Still, we're all new to this so, TCDroogsma, what gives?

Boy, that's a concise question.  Basically, I've been making those Flatbasset mixes for a few years now and I've found that they are not very successful.  I decided to change it up a little bit by turning the mixes into a podcast where I break up the songs by talking a little bit.

That was your plan?  To break up a bunch of great songs with your rabbling?

Well, when you frame it that way it doesn't make much sense.  More accurately, it wasn't quite fair just labeling it a "mix" as that implied that it was some chopped up party starter, which it obviously wasn't.

Plus, I realized that people weren't really reading the bits I wrote about each song.  Since people hate reading I thought they might rather listen to me explain why the songs are great.

So you don't think people like to read and yet you spend nearly all of your free time blogging?

(Sigh...)
